The Conflict between Turkey and Kurds

(Map of Kurdish territory )
Kurd is a group of Sunni Muslim that has their own language and culture, and they mostly inhabit in some areas such as Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Iran, and Armenia . After dissolution of Ottoman empire in 1920, many successor states were established in southeastern Europe and the Middle East. However Kurds were not allowed to create their own independent state because of the opposition from Turkey, Iran, and Iraq. According to the history of Kurd, there were about 8 millions out of 20 millions Kurdish living in southern Turkey and the rest living in Syria, Iran, Iraq and Armenia. Since that time, Kurdish people that have been living in Iraq and Turkey were forbidden to wear their own traditional clothes as well as to speak their own language. Because of these problems, in 1978 Kurdish man Abdullah Ocalan established the Kurdish Workers' Party, or PKK for claiming for independence, and this party has always been committing some activities such as bombing and others related to terrorism.
During Iraq-Iran War (from 1980-1988) Kurdish Workers' party tried to support the Iran troop to against Iraq, as a result Iraqi government under leading of Saddam Hussein launched poison-gas to attack Kurdish people and killed 5,000 of them in Halabja.
As long as Kurds can not set up their own state, they will never abandon their goal. they promised to keep fight with Turkey for freedom and independence. Until now it's about 30 years of conflict between Turkey and PKK,and it is about to end. Anyway according to the political analysts, they think that If the conflict between Turkey and Kurdish rebel continue, there will not only have fighting with in Iraqi border but also have other fighting in Syrian border as well. In addition Turkey has been trying to ask for joining the European Union, thus it had to promise with Kurdish people to begin democratic reforms and to recognize the Kurdish identity.
